Looking at a 1970 GMC K15 and have a couple of questions. I have never owned a GM product my entire life. My first truck was a 1955 International Harvester R120. Everything after that was Ford. I do a lot of work for the owner who is a farmer and the truck just doesnt get used. It belonged to his uncle who passed 3 years ago and he really doesnt want it anymore. It has rust as it is a Pennsylvania truck but none the less is still a good truck to work on I think. I need a truck to drive around while my Powerstroke 7.3L Ford is getting rust repairs. I cant post pictures on the forum but its a 1970 GMC K15. It has the 350 Small Block V8, TH350 3spd transmission and 4x4 that works. Speedometer works, odometer works, fuel gauge works, oil pressure, water temperature and amp gauges all dont work on the original cluster and were moved to under dash gauges and the radio doesnt work either. Solid rear glass window, working lights, working heat and defrost, working wipers and 4x4. No A/C as it wasnt factory installed and the 12v Cigarette lighter doesnt work. It runs good but not great, might need a tune up and carb clean/adjustment. No vacuum gauge on the cluster either. Both rocker panels are bubbled up with rust as well as lower door sills and the part of the cab that is above the rocker panels right before the floor pans has pin holes of rust on both sides about 3 or 5 holes each side. Bottom of the doors are bubbled up with rust on the outside too. Right fender has a spot where the paint cracked and behind the cab driver's side about an inch from the gascap where the cab starts to bed has a area of bubbled up rust. One small spot about the size of mason jar lid as a rust hole in the driver's floor pan. The truck is "Medium Blue" paint color and has the wood grain trim down the sides. What is a good price to pay for this truck ? Also how easy is it to make a 1/2 K15 into a 3/4 ton K25 ? Do I just have to change out the rear axle and all four springs to 3/4 ton springs and 3/4 ton rear axle ? Im probably not gonna do it but I figured I would ask. If it helps I can email the pictures of the truck to anyone if that helps with their answer about how much I should pay. Thanks to all who reply.
