I purchased this 1965 Chevy Truck about 4.5 years ago. When I purchased it I was told that it was a custom truck for that year model. It supposedly came with 327 vette engine stock and with sliding rear window. It has chrome accents on the side of the truck behind the side windows that say custom. Could someone please tell me if this is true and whether or not this specific truck/engine may be worth more than a stock 65. From the research I have done if it is the same engine that came in the 65 vette it alone is worth upwards of 4k. Thanks for any information.

Hey. I got a 65 c20. But mine is just a 6, just my preference. Not sure about your engine being a vette motor or not. How about the heads? The vette motor would have had bigger valves and can be ID'd by the bumps on the front of the heads. I'd imagine the block casting number may look like a vette motor but I think the vette heads would be 1.94's or 2.02's to get it up to 300hp. I haven't had a 327 in 30 years so my memory is a little foggy. I think 1.94 heads have double bumps, kinda like a womans breasts. The smaller heads (not sure of valve size) are like 1.72 intakes, I think the bumps are way different, maybe a little bit of a point on a rectangle. My brother had 2.02 heads once, I think they had a very tall point. I would think if it has the double bump or 2.02 heads you may have a nice find. There is something about the cranks too... but out of my league

You are correct. I also have a 1965 Fleetside custom that has been handed down to me from my grandfather. I have had it since high school (1980's)
That was a factory option, mine has as well:
327 (202 heads) Large rear window In Dash Factory AC Power Steering Long bed fleetside
These seem to be very rare.

I think your wrong. In 1965, the largest engine for a Chevy c-10 or c-20 was the 283. In 1966, the 327 option with a turbo hydramatic transmission was offered. CHEVYBO
