Hi,
I own a 1948 Thriftmast, 3/4 ton with split wheels. I want to change to single steel rims.
Do you know where these may be purchased?

I have a 55 second 3600. I have been trying to find the same thing. A modern 8 lug rim that I can use a nice radial on and get rid of the split rims. I know the tie rod ends have a clearance issue allowing for just a 3 1/2" backspacing. From another site I learned about a trailer wheel - 17-153. They are a 16" steel rim that is 6" wide and has a 3 1/2" backspacing. I plan on ordering just one rim first to check the clearances before getting a full set. I found the best pricing at esourcetrailerparts. There are plenty more suppliers. Just do a search for 17-153 rims (or wheels). Good luck to both of us.

I'm more of an OEM guy. When I first got my 47 3600 I lived in an area where I could not find anyone to mount tires on the old style wheels. I have the original 216 so I don't have too much Hp. I found a business that made rims for tractors and had them take a modern 8 bolt rim and turn the dish around in it. The tire sat out a little wide but it worked. I'll have those 4 wheels ready for sale soon as I'm going back to the original 2 piece wheels.
