What do I have here

I recently purchased an older Chevy 3/4 ton pick up truck and I am having some problem identifying the year. The plate on the door frame is intact but doesn't match any pictures I see on line. Can anyone help?

Without knowing anything about the #s, or looking anything up, I would guess you have a '55. Early '55s (first series) look like the '54 Chevy and late '55s (second series) look like the 56. Like I said I'm just taking a wild guess here, but this could be why when you look up a picture of your truck it shows a different looking truck.
